POSITION SUMMARY

New employment opportunities have been created as part of an exciting new venture that Best Buy Canada Ltd. has undertaken. The venture focuses on developing industry-leading software that can service the on-line digital imaging customer.

As a new employee, you would be joining a small team of highly skilled developers, project leaders, and marketers dedicated to scaling software solutions for large customers around the world, within 6 months or less.  As a member of a small team, you may be required to step outside your comfort zone and take on tasks that are new or unique to a situation. To support clients on an on-going basis and cope during peak demand periods, innovative and efficient work habits will be required.

An experienced QA and Release Manager is required immediately to take responsibility for product testing and release schedules of several software applications currently in production.

There is an immediate need to implement rigorous testing and release management processes as the subsidiary grows from servicing a small “custom” client base to being a “scaled” software provider.  As the QA and Release Manager, you would be responsible for:

-          Establishing, documenting, and training a team on QA Methodology

-          Developing and executing test scripts, and identifying root cause

-          Defect tracking, triaging, prioritizing and resolution

-         Maintaining status reports and issue logs for review with both the development team and company executives

-         Developing new processes that cover release documentation, requirements gathering, testing cycles, reporting, etc.

-          Release coordination

-          Integrity of test environments

In addition to the existing product suite provided by the company, you would be responsible for testing and managing the release schedule of new software products that are in the various stages of roll-out.

As a subsidiary of Best Buy Canada Ltd., the new venture will leverage the experience and values of Best Buy Canada Ltd. Best Buy Canada Ltd. has extensive experience in retailing consumer electronics products to the consumer and is currently focused on expanding both product breadth and market penetration in Canada and abroad. This position requires the ability to travel.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS

-          More than 5 years experience in the Software Industry

-          3-5 years of QA and Release Management experience

-          2-3 years of programming in SQL, HTML, Scripting Languages, PHP, or C++ would be an asset

-          Experienced with Test Automation Tools and Software Configuration Management Tools

-          Familiar with relational databases and object-oriented programming languages

-          Knowledge of Linux, Unix, Apache Web Server, PERL Scripts, and other open source software would be an asset

-          Familiar with project management methodology and extensive experience in a high output, team environment

-          Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Business Administration

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

* Management Associates must have completed min. 9 months in current role

* Non-management associates must have completed min. 6 months in current role

* Last Performance Review must reflect “on target” performance or better

* All candidates must meet the minimum experience requirements as stated above
