POSITION SUMMARY

New employment opportunities have been created as part of an exciting new venture that Best Buy Canada Ltd. has undertaken. The venture focuses on developing industry-leading software that can service the on-line digital imaging customer.

As a new employee, you would be joining a small team of highly skilled developers, project leaders, and marketers dedicated to scaling software solutions for large customers around the world, within 6 months or less.  As a member of a small team, you may be required to step outside your comfort zone and take on tasks that are new or unique to a situation. To support clients on an on-going basis and cope during peak demand periods, innovative and efficient work habits will be required.

An experienced Windows Programmer is required immediately to maintain and enhance windows-based software currently in production. Experience is a must due to the independence and self-direction that will be required to troubleshoot and introduce enhancements into an existing code base on time and on budget.

Responsibilities will encompass:

-          Detailed design of software modules

-          Providing work plan estimates for design and development tasks

-          Coding

-          Unit and integration testing

-          Diagnosing and resolving production issues

-          Maintaining documentation

-          Communicating effectively with management and other team members

In time, as a Senior Software Developer, you may be required to design, develop, and deliver new software applications for the digital imaging market.  As a senior developer you must be able to lead a team of developers in delivering varying product releases and enhancements within tight timelines.

As a subsidiary of Best Buy Canada Ltd., the new venture will leverage the experience and values of Best Buy Canada Ltd. Best Buy Canada Ltd. has extensive experience in retailing consumer electronics products to the consumer and is currently focused on expanding both product breadth and market penetration in Canada and abroad. This position requires the ability to travel.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS

-          5-7 Years Work Experience

-          Previously held the position of a Senior Software Developer with team lead responsibilities

-          Extensive design and development experience using Visual C++, MFC, JavaScript, VB Script, HTML, XML and Internet Protocols such as HTTP

-          Solid experience with SQL and relational databases

-          Experience with the .NET framework

-          Solid knowledge of GUI/HMI and Object Oriented design and implementation methodology

-          Experience with Installer Technologies and methods, Window Installer and InstallShield

-          Experience in a digital imaging technology and software is an asset

-          Completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

* Management Associates must have completed min. 9 months in current role

* Non-management associates must have completed min. 6 months in current role

* Last Performance Review must reflect “on target” performance or better

* All candidates must meet the minimum experience requirements as stated above
